CBFF 2018, our seventh and sadly our last at the Stradey Park Hotel. 2018 saw us receive our highest submission to date, with over 650 submitted from 52 different countries worldwide.

CBFF 2017, our sixth festival once again held at the 4 star Stradey Park Hotel and Spa, Llanelli. Not only were submissions up but filmmakers attending the festival was as well.

We screened 190 films over four days and and had one of the biggest turnouts for our awards gala which was featured on the Welsh language magazine program Heno, broadcast live on S4C.

The recipient of the John Hefin Lifetime Achievement Award 2017 was Endaf Emlyn. We were also delighted to be able to screen The Lighthouse starring one of our festivals judges Mark Lewis Jones.

CBFF 2016, our fifth season. In 2016 we introduced the John Hefin Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is for anyone who has made a significant contribution to Welsh television, film, drama or theatre. And the awards first recipient was Euryn Ogwen Williams.

CBFF 2014 our third season. Once again submissions were to 174, this was the year we used filmfreeway for the first time along with festhome.

We also introduced the Gwobr John Hefin, the John Hefin Award for Welsh language short film.

CCBFF 2013, our second festival again held at the Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli.

For our second season submissions were up, we had 65 submissions. Ok compared to other festivals maybe
that’s not a lot but again no real budget to work with. Around this time online submission platforms were starting to become more accessible and affordable. Because up until now the only one that was being used by most filmmakers
was without a box! 2013 we used festhome for the first time which did help to increase awareness of CBFF and submissions.

CBFF 2012 our first ever season.

For our first festival, we had 35 submissions just using Facebook and word of mouth.
Also not knowing how to really get filmmakers to submit, oh yes and not a penny.
Without the support of the Stradey Park Hotel, the festival would have been a lot
harder to get off the ground.

Plus we also had to borrow equipment to be able to screen the films.
Projector, home DVD player, disco sound system and the hotel’s screen..
and a lot of determination. This was a no-budget film festival.
